Chios - Χίος

One of the biggest islands, land of many captains and ship owners, possible birth place of Homer. Known for the unique mastic gum, offers a variety of attractions, and can be visited any time of the year. The median villages of Mesta and Olympi, the carved paintings in Pyrgi houses, the castle of Volissos, the historical villages Anavatos and Avgonyma, the mansions and walled orchards at Kampos, the magnificent Mavra Volia beach ... Beware of rockets at Easter time in Vrondados. Oh and west beaches are very cold even on August.
