Skopelos is a breathtaking, green-and-blue paradise famous for its dense pine forests that flow right down to the turquoise shoreline. Film lovers will immediately recognize it as the main setting for the Mamma Mia! movie, but its true magic lies in its unspoiled, dramatic coastal landscapes like Kastani and Milia beaches.
In Skopelos Town, you will find a picturesque harbor surrounded by whitewashed, red-tiled houses climbing up the hillside. The island is also dotted with hundreds of historic churches and monasteries, including the iconic Agios Ioannis chapel perched high on a sea cliff, offering incredible views and an authentic taste of traditional Greek island life. There are still a few quiet beaches, so this makes it something between cosmopolitan Skiathos and quiet Alonnisos.
