Lipsi - Λειψοί

A cluster of islets with only the bigger one inhabited. Lipsi (also known as Lipsoi) is a mesmerizing cluster of mini-islands located in the northern Dodecanese, offering a quiet antidote to busier Aegean destinations. Characterized by low-lying hills, rolling vineyards, and pristine pocket beaches, the main island is small enough to explore completely on foot or by scooter. Life here revolves around the picturesque, main harbor town, where pastel-colored shutters, cascading pink bougainvillea, and the blue domes of Agios Ioannis Theologos church create a picture-perfect Greek setting. The island is world-renowned for its relaxed, eco-conscious philosophy and timeless way of life. Spending a day on

Lipsi means swimming in the exceptionally clear shallow waters of Platis Gialos, sunbathing on the smooth pebbles of Katsadia, and sampling the island's famous sweet black wine, which was historically sent directly to the Vatican for use in Holy Communion. As dusk falls, the harbor waterfront completely transforms into an open-air living room, where locals and travelers sit together at traditional tavernas to enjoy freshly grilled octopus, local cheeses, and glasses of iced ouzo late into the evening.
