Spinalonga - Σπιναλόνγα

Although wasn't always an island, today is reachable by small boats from Elounda. The islet is an old castle with many decades of history. It's like a big museum, and a great hike around it. You won't regret your visit.

Chrissi (Gaidouronisi) - Χρυσή (Γαϊδουρονήσι)

South of Ierapetra is the "donkey island". No donkeys here though! During the warm months free campers enjoy the magnificent nature - unique in Greece -, and the piece and quiet of this Libyan sea island. Daily trips are originating from Ierapetra's port. Once there, take a closer look at the sand, you'll be surprised!

Crete -> Agios Nikolaos, Lasithi - Άγιος Νικόλαος, Λασίθι

To the east of Crete is the perfecture of Lasithi, with major town of Agios Nikolaos. The town features a lake by the sea, and a few kilometers away lies the famous Elounda peninsula. The Lasithi plateau and "Dikteon andro" cave offer great hikes. Further to the east but still north is Sitia, another interesting town, and at the east point, the magnificent Vai beach with the natural palm forest. All the east coast has many quiet beaches, and a few nice gorges for trecking. To the south, both sides of Ierapetra town, a semi-explored Crete is waiting ...

Crete -> Heraklion - Ηράκλειο

Further to the east, in the center of Crete is perfecture of Heraklion. A big modern city with nice old parts. Nearby is the Knossos palace. Many other archeological interesting sites are on this area, including Festos and Malia, and a visit to the city's archeological museum is highly recommended. The aquarium is also very nice to visit. Beautiful beaches on the north are Agia Pelagia, Hersonissos, Stalida. The most famous on the south is Matala, but there are plenty of other south beaches to be explored.

Crete -> Rethymno - Ρέθυμνο

To the east of Chania is the perfecture of Rethymno, a smaller town with a lovely old town with fort and port. Some of the best beaches in the area are the unique Preveli, Plakias, and Agia Galini at the south coast, and Bali at the north coast. Don't miss magnificent hikes at the mountains, like Idaion andro, the cave where according to the Greek mythology, Zeus was born, as well as a visit to Spili village.

Crete -> Chania - Χανιά

Perfecture of Chania is on the west side of Crete. A walk on the old town inside the fort and the old port with the lighthouse is lovely. Some of the best beaches on the island are in this area, including - but not limited to -, Platanias at north, Balos/ Gramvoussa and northwest, Falasarna at west, Elafonisi and Frangokastelo at south. The rest of the area is occupied by "Lefka Ori", meaning white mountains. The most magnificent gorges of the island are here, including the well-known Samaria gorge. Paleochora and Kissamos towns, worth at least a visit. There is also lake Kourna, and other little surprises all over the area for you to discover ...

Crete - Κρήτη

Crete is not just an island, it could easily be a small country on its own. The variety of landscapes, flaura and fauna offers unlimited possibilities to explore; and the mild climate makes it attractive for visiting any time of the year. There are also several - inhabited or not - small islands around.

Milos - Μήλος

The presense of the prehistoric volcano is everywhere, forming amazing shapes and colors, affecting every piece of the island, adding a touch of mystery. The beaches are countless and simply unique, the boat trip to "kleftiko" is an experience not to miss. But Aphrodite is not living here any more...

Sifnos - Σίφνος

Like a mountain in the middle of the sea, Sifnos doesn't have the beaches of the other west cycladic islands, but the scenery of the villages is breathtaking. The atmosphere is rather cosmopolitan.

Poliegos - Πολύαιγος

Half the size of, and just one mile from Kimolos, this islet has some magnificent beaches, as well as many sea-surface caves. Once inhabited, now mostly goats live here; its name actually means "many goats". Nice hike to the lighthouse, with a rewarding view.

Kimolos - Κίμωλος

The little surprise of West Cyclades. The pre historic volcano left its traces all over the island, forming amazingly shaped and colored rocks. The sea water is so clear, that makes you want to drink it! The port, the "chora", and the very few other little settlements are very scenic. A great hike is to "skiadi", there are plenty of beautiful beaches, and it is never too crowded.

Serifos - Σέριφος

Such a small island, so many incredible beaches! Plus one of the most scenic "chora" of Cyclades, and a few very interesting little villages overlooking the sea. Relaxing holidays for everyone!

Kythnos - Κύθνος

A mix of Kea and Serifos, this suprisingly less popular island has a lot to offer. Numerous beautiful sandy beaches - Kolona is simply unique! -, two very different styled scenic villages - Chora and Driopis -, and a few fishing villages. It does worth a visit!

Kea (Tzia) - Κέα (Τζια)

The surprise close to the shore has a style of its own! More colorful than the rest of Cyclades, and with enough plantation. Still Ioulis is a very beautiful and unique "chora", so is the port of Korissia. Magnificent sandy beaches all over the island, and plenty of interesting footpaths for hiking, and some famous shipwrecks for divers. Ancient cities, and my favorite; Kea's lion!
